Christmas, as a traditional Western Festival, is a great opportunity for students to learn about Western Culture and enhance their interest in learning English. To provide our students with a practical English learning environment, for Christmas this year we held the ‘”Chinese and Foreign Culture Contest”. We believe by holding this event we will provide our kids with a great opportunity to apply what they have learned in class to some practical circumstances, and this will encourage them to explore more about foreign cultures. Most importantly, their English learning skills and capabilities in applying what they have learned to daily life will be greatly improved.

This event consists of four parts: the Chinese and Foreign Culture Contest, Drama show, Talent show and  Prize-awarding Ceremony. Everyone was excited and showed their best knowledge of English.

圣誕節(jié)是西方的傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日，是讓孩子們體驗(yàn)西方文化、提高英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)興趣的好機(jī)會(huì)。為了給孩子們創(chuàng)造體驗(yàn)式的英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)情境，激發(fā)孩子們對(duì)不同文化的探索欲望，提高英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)、應(yīng)用能力，近日，聚龍國(guó)際部舉辦了“中外文化知識(shí)競(jìng)賽”。

本次活動(dòng)不僅有知識(shí)搶答競(jìng)賽、還有戲劇表演、才藝展示和頒獎(jiǎng)儀式。孩子們各個(gè)都鼓足了勁，激動(dòng)不已，盡展自己的英語(yǔ)才華！

Part One--Chinese and Foreign Culture Contest

第一部分——中外文化知識(shí)競(jìng)賽

Altogether there were two rounds: indivudual quiz and team quiz.

In the first round, we selected the participants randomly by using a computer software, the students chosen had to run to the microphone as fast as they could in order to get the chance to anwser the question. Then they had to give the answer within a limited time. The Grade that got a higher score would win. Everyone was excited and crazy about this!

中外文化知識(shí)競(jìng)賽分為搶答題和拓展題兩個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)。

在搶答題環(huán)節(jié)，每個(gè)班級(jí)采取搖號(hào)的方式隨機(jī)選取同學(xué)上臺(tái)參與比賽，孩子們需要用最快的速度搶到話筒獲取答題權(quán)，并且在規(guī)定的時(shí)間內(nèi)完成答題，最終由答題正確次數(shù)最多的小組獲勝。不論是臺(tái)上還是臺(tái)下的孩子們都超級(jí)激動(dòng)，為了班級(jí)的榮譽(yù)而戰(zhàn)！我們玩的就是心跳！ 

In the second round, the students had to work as a team and brainstorm to answer a variety of questions. It was not only a test on how much they know about foreign cultures but also a test on how fast they can react under certain circumstance. Most importantly, it shows how well they can work in a team.    

在知識(shí)競(jìng)賽的拓展題環(huán)節(jié)，孩子們需要通過(guò)小組配合，運(yùn)用平時(shí)積累的中外文化知識(shí)作答。這不僅是一場(chǎng)文化知識(shí)積累的英語(yǔ)競(jìng)賽，更是對(duì)孩子們反應(yīng)能力、思維能力和團(tuán)隊(duì)協(xié)作能力的考驗(yàn)。（圖3）

All participants were trying their best, excited and focused. The audience were even calling out their names, which added up a more tensive atmosphere.

臺(tái)上的選手牟足了勁，急中生智，臺(tái)下同學(xué)也毫不遜色！緊張激烈的氛圍點(diǎn)燃了全場(chǎng)觀賽同學(xué)的熱情！

Part Two--Drama and Talent Show

第二部分——國(guó)際部英語(yǔ)戲劇及才藝表演

In this part we enjoyed the fabulous English Drama, fantastic singing, passionate English speech, graceful Yoga, classic guiter, and even the students from garde one brought us a vivid story and excellent dance. Thanks to these lovely angels we had the best time ever!

才藝表演環(huán)節(jié)不僅有精彩絕倫的全英文戲劇表演，悅耳動(dòng)聽(tīng)的歌曲，慷慨激昂的英語(yǔ)演講，優(yōu)雅婀娜的瑜伽，古典嫻熟的吉他彈唱，還有一年級(jí)小朋友繪聲繪色的英文故事和動(dòng)感十足的舞蹈?，F(xiàn)場(chǎng)的每位老師和同學(xué)都沉浸在了這幸福而快樂(lè)的圣誕氛圍中。

Part three--Prize-awarding Ceremony

第三部分——頒獎(jiǎng)環(huán)節(jié)

Then there came the most exciting part! We were all eager to know who would win the contest after seeing such a furious competition. Now it is time we gave a big hand to the winners and the Grade who showed the best discipline during the whole event!

經(jīng)過(guò)一輪又一輪的緊張角逐，頒獎(jiǎng)環(huán)節(jié)讓孩子們無(wú)比期待！讓我們來(lái)揭曉在中外文化知識(shí)競(jìng)賽中獲勝以及榮獲道德風(fēng)尚獎(jiǎng)的班級(jí)吧！掌聲送給以下獲獎(jiǎng)班級(jí)～

In the witness of all teachers and students in our department, our foreign teachers announced the names of students who are recognized as the Student of the Semester and the Most Improved Student. Congratulations to all of them! Learning is a life-long business, we have the confidence that our students will make continuous progress through everyday study.

It’s no doubt that this event is a great success, in which the students demonstrated a global mindset and an excellent teamwork. Hope our students enjoy and improve from every single experience the future holds for us .
