Hello guys, I believe many of you have seen a movie. Long long ago in Peace Valley, a clumsy panda – A Bao, had nothing skillful and achieved nothing except for working as a waiter in a restaurant. However by chance he was chosen to be the Valley saver, he had to learn from the Masters quickly and fight the revenger - a giant and powerful Leopard. And… he won, the Leopard was down, the Valley recovered its peace, A Bao became the most respectful master in the Valley.
This is the Kungfu Panda. The power A Bao used is Kungfu. A traditional Chinese culture.
Kungfu started from primitive times, while people fought with wild animals, for food and living, when tribes fought with tribes, for territory and space. As it went along with different ages, it developed to attack and defense, army tactics, performance and competition, and nowadays a way of health keeping.
Speaking about Chinese Kungfu, there are a lot of stories.
In 1950th, Ye Wen, the Kungfu master, created Wing Chun (詠春), it became the most popular and practical Kungfu at that moment. Ye Wen was invited by Japanese army to teach Kungfu but he refused because he was a patriot (愛國者) and he wanted to devote to Chinese Nation. He was then officially challenged by Japanese top fighter and he beat him down, in the worldwide, it was known as China beat Japan.
Li XiaoLong, the most famous Chinese Kungfu master, and the first Chinese who brought Kungfu to the world. He created his own and unique Kungfu and participated in many competition and battle in America, he won, every time. He won for Chinese, he won for the nation, he won the respect we’ve not had from those foreigners before. He established schools in America to teach Chinese Kungfu to students from all over the world. It is him who added Chinese word Kung Fu to English dictionary. It is him who proved to the world that Chinese is not the Sick Man of East Asia.
Kungfu is not just for fighting, Kungfu is a sport, is a culture.
Kungfu is in our life, it’s not about flying over the roof, running over the water, it’s about when we are in danger, I’m running faster than you….
Kungfu, like any kind of sports, requires your diligence(勤奮), dedication(付出) and persistence(堅持), it tells you there’s never an end for learning, there’s always someone better than you, or yourself tomorrow will always be better than yourself today, there’s always a higher goal waiting for you to achieve further ahead.
