Good morning,

My name is David and I have been working and living in Julong foreign Language School for about 8 months now. This morning, I want to talk with you about my experience of living here.

大家早上好，我叫David,是聚龍國際部的一名外教老師。我加入聚龍外國語學(xué)校的大家庭已經(jīng)有8個多月了，今天我想與各位分享我在聚龍的美好工作生活。

When I first arrived in Julong, I was immediately struck by both the natural and structural beauty of the area. The stunning surrounding gardens and sports facilities reminded me of where I went to University while the lush green mountainsides and forests which coat the area are reminiscent of my home country of Ireland, often famed for our greenery, even earning us the name “The Emerald Isle”.

我的家鄉(xiāng)愛爾蘭，是西歐一個島嶼，全島被一片蒼翠碧綠的林木所籠罩，所以人們都習(xí)慣地稱其為“綠寶石島”。 當(dāng)我剛來聚龍的時候，我立即被這里宛如世外桃源的自然美景和校園風(fēng)光所吸引。這引人入勝的美麗花園、配套的運(yùn)動設(shè)施讓我回想起我在家鄉(xiāng)的生活，覺得很親切。

However, it was not merely the visual beauty of the area which struck me, but also the character and nature of the people. Since moving to Julong, I have been blown away by the kindness, helpfulness and enthusiasm of people in the locality. While it is often taken for granted and perhaps the fine people of Julong do not even notice it, but a warm smile and acknowledgement can really make somebody feel at home and at ease when they move to a new place.

然而，讓我選擇在聚龍工作和生活的原因不僅僅是它的美景，更是這里的文化理念和友好的人們。自我來后，我被聚龍人的善良、樂于助人和熱情所深深打動。這里每個人看見我，都會為我送上溫暖的微笑和一句問候，雖然這么做對大家來說也許是一件小事，但這真的可以讓一個外國人感到賓至如歸。

The positive nature and characteristics that I have already mentioned are not just limited to the staff and local people in Julong, but also the students who add a life and youthful vibrance to the halls of Julong Foreign Language School. Rain or shine, teachers in Julong are greeted with an enthusiasm which I have found to be unrivalled in years of teaching. In my experience, this enthusiasm has extended to the classroom and to this day I am often impressed with the work ethic and drive of the students in Julong.

我剛才提到的友好的文化，不僅限于聚龍的居民和學(xué)校的教職工，其中也包括了為學(xué)校增添無限生機(jī)和青春活力的聚龍學(xué)子們，他們對未來擁有堅定的夢想，在課堂上對知識有強(qiáng)烈的好奇，他們良好的學(xué)習(xí)生活習(xí)慣、優(yōu)秀的品格等等都給我留下了深刻的印象，這在我多年的教學(xué)經(jīng)歷中，是從未體驗(yàn)過的。

This drive and work ethic is important for all of us in daily life. The drive to work hard for academic results, the drive to open our minds and learn about new places and cultures and on this, Our sports week, the drive to excel on the sports field. In an ever changing world, it is important that we strike a balance between this competitive drive whilst still remaining courteous and civil to those we compete against.

夢想和目標(biāo)對我們每個人都很重要。它能成為我們努力工作、學(xué)習(xí)的動力，它能打開我們的思想的局限，它能讓我們接納新知識和新文化。就像上一周，我們學(xué)校舉辦了運(yùn)動會，夢想和目標(biāo)就是我們在運(yùn)動場上取得優(yōu)異成績的助燃劑。21世紀(jì)是一個日新月異的新時代，如何在這樣競爭激烈的時代環(huán)境下成為一個具有世界眼光的現(xiàn)代中國人是非常重要的。

The real competition in life is against ourselves, to quote the author Jenny Perry:

“I am in competition with no one. I run my own race. I have no desire to play the game of being better than anyone, in any way, shape or form. I just aim to improve, to be better that I was before. That’s me and I am free.” This is advice which we can all follow and apply to all aspects of our lives, whether it be academic performance, sporting performance or simply how we carry ourselves in day to day life in our interactions with people. I encourage you all to incorporate this philosophy in your lives and you will no doubt prosper in life.

其實(shí)生活中真正的競爭對手是我們自己，請讓我引用著名作家珍妮·佩里的話：“我沒有和任何人競爭。我走我的路。我只想進(jìn)步，比以前更好?！斑@就是我和我的自由?！?這句名言是我們所有人都可以遵循的經(jīng)驗(yàn)教條，并適用于我們生活的各個方面，無論是學(xué)業(yè)上、行為習(xí)慣上、體育技能上，還是我們在日常生活中與他人的交往。我鼓勵你們把這種哲學(xué)融入你們的生活中，你們無疑會變的更優(yōu)秀。
